I was thinking earlier about how dreadful cable companies and taxi services are. Millennials have turned to Uber and are cutting the cord at what appears to be a pretty high rate. It seems that older folk usually just cursed the companies under their breath but ultimately came to just accept the screwing, whereas the younger generation seems to be more proactive about finding alternatives to companies that screw you and don't care about customer service. Do you agree?

Haven't we established that millenials are going to fix the country that our parents destroyed. I mean our parents have given us a Clinton-Trump election.

I think so.

You also have to look at all the businesses that are being created usually have a robust charity aspect to them. Such as a "buy one, give one" model, as in you buy one of these and we give another one to someone in need.

A lot of millennial innovation has also been tying to find ways around having to deal with corporations that no one else can stand but haven't done anything about.

I know plenty of older people who use uber and get around cable companies.

I believe you are misconstruing accepting the screwing, with lack of options in the past.

I think social media has given a lot of people (of all ages) an inflated self sense. They all think people care about their thoughts and opinions.

It's easier for them: they don't have the money to pay for high-priced cable and taxi.

"Older folk" didn't have options like Uber in lieu of cabs, or Hulu/Netflix in lieu of cable until recently. So instead of crediting millennials I would just say as a result of rapidly expanding technology we now live in a world that consistently creates alternatives to such problems.

Do millennials hold spelling to a higher standard?

Doesn't look that way.

Did the lack of options originate with a lack of searching or unwillingness to try something different though?

Yeah, a large percentage of younger adults think they are mini-celebrities and that their opinion holds more weight because, well, it's THEIR opinion. Something shifted in schools after I left apparently because the narcissism and self importance of many of these kids is amusing to me.

So you are saying millenials are the people who developed all these new companies?

Uber- Travis Kalanick born August 6, 1976
Garrett Camp born October 4, 1978

Netflix: Reed Hastings born October 8, 1960

google: Larry Page born March 26, 1973

Lyft was founded by guys in their early 30's. And if you consider that millenials, Which i do not, copied it from uber.

Facebook might be the only big this founded my a millenal, again if you consider 1984 to be that.

These arent millenials.

I'm saying millennials are responsible for the success of these new companies, and more importantly the downfall or at least forced adaptation of the previously inflexible industries.

No. Someone already said it. The technology that allows many of these alternative options has only come about in the past 10-15 years or so. Internet and the smartphone have been incredibly disruptive technologies, which is why you see all these new alternatives popping up.

This is a reach. Technology has enabled people to have more options, and the same technology has enabled them to spread faster. One of the first people I knew to cut the cord was an old dorky guy in his 50's who everyone assumed was just showing the first signs of becoming a hermit.

Think about just Uber. 15 years ago it would have been insane to put your financial info into a computer program that enabled strangers to give you rides. A little positive feedback from social media and it's normal.
