Well when i first heard of this the other day it was all about her being detained as a prostitute for no other reason than she was black and gave her white husband an "innocent" kiss.

Another important note here, she wasn't arrested so she didn't do anything wrong even when she refused to show ID.
There is no law in California that you must provide ID, but there is a gray area that you can't interfere with an investigation and some police use this as a tool to force people to provide ID.
It's a bit of a gray area, but she was potentially in the right here. I would think the libertarians and right wingers that are all over this board would support this kind of action.

That is not accurate.
The law in CA states that police can't just walk up to people and demand ID if there is no probable cause.
If someone is involved in an investigation, by CA law, the police have the right to ID that person. And if that person does not provide ID, the police have the right to detain that person in order to confirm their ID, by law.
So there is no gray area where she might be right.

I don't think that she was arrested. I'm not positive on that point. I thought she was just detained until she was ID'd.
