re: Didn't BR do a great job last time with peaceful protest?

The two cops involved in this will certainly have to skip town. That's the biggest issue with cops now (aka the Ferguson Effect). Even if you did nothing wrong and acted in accordance with the law and protocols, your life is ruined and your family is in danger.

The officers last go around were quick to nip things in the bud. It's not like the protestors were all well behaved, the cops just shut shite down when it started getting out of hand. It not at the realm of possibility that the new mayor has issued orders for the officers to stand down and not be so aggressive this time. If this is the case, it seems that the LSP could keep the peace bc they don't answer to her

quote:i get it, and BR was in a huge spot light, one of the brightest, and had a huge influx of agitators probably paid by soros in town....but all things considering and even with those incidents you just posted about by the interstate, didn't BR residents still handle it pretty damn well?
I had people being belligerent real close to my house. Tear gas and everything. They were trying to get onto the interstate. Idiots. If you shut down an interstate, anbulances cant get by and people will die.

The cops only targeted individuals inciting riots. They picked them out of the crowd and let everyone continue. It was surgical.

That had nothing to do with the peaceful marches across the city by the local residents that are now being projected to be out of control hoodlums like we saw in Baltimore and Ferguson... I don't get it..
So I guess you weren't watching the same Periscope videos where the only thing keeping the hoodlums from actually looting and pillaging the city was the strong police presence and them not putting up with the bullshite

Yeah I can see how this mayor isn't our boy Kip, but I'd think the initial blowback would probably be a bigger more sustained and pissed off protest than this a year later.... and I would take a more of a 'wait and see' approach before I would be rescheduling dinner or taking my kids out of school and all kinds of other stuff I saw suggested on this board.

It was peaceful until people were bussed in to protest. Who funds all of these people to be bussed in anyway?
Nothing is going to happen, people are being dramatic... But if you see the busses roll in then there might be some type of problems, but other than that.. Like I said, people are being dramatic. It makes for good news headlines.

Yes, arrested those that weren't peaceful and then the metro council gave them money.

I could see how mayor SJW could try her best to ignite flames, but these officers still are trained a certain way and will most likely handle things the same way just from a repetitive training reason if anything
I'm hoping for protest to be civil and maybe a conversation to be had and parties with grievances to come to an agreement with learning experiences for all,

No doubt it went relatively well last time. I have feeling it will be harder for the police this time. Unfortunately, the best way to deal with these things is to be forceful and swift in dispensing the crowds.
ETA: I want to say that this if the crowds are blocking public roads or rioting. Peaceful protest are fine, and are protected. The problem is, is that these protesters have already expressed interest in being un-peaceful.

Jake, I see you got a new sig pic out of your creepy pic thread yesterday...

So why is all this 'brace for looting' threads and sacking and burning of the city being predicted?
Am I missing something?
Yes, an election. Kip's no longer mayor, Sharon Weston-Broome is. One of her closest advisers is this woman:
Broome also wants the BR Chief of Police's head for being too "brutal" on last summer's protests. People are afraid that she'll follow the Baltimore/Portland/Berkeley example and tell the police to stand down and give the protesters "space to vent their frustrations". With Carl Dabadey out at State Police, we can't expect help from the boys in blue is BRPD is told to stand down.
We could be in for a hell of a ride.

The new mayor is a joke, and will allow things all in the greater good of blackness.
Thanks for voting BR.
