Changed besides the mayor.
What all changed- the mayor is one big factor; she was out marching the first time around, now she's mayor. She's tried to fire the current BRPD Chief, but since he's civil service he can't arbitrarily be let go, and he's held on. She's already "appalled" by the release, and calling on people to peacefully protest (as opposed to calling on them to, for example, stay home).
She's just coming off a scandal in which the guy she hired as her CEO submitted a completely fictional resume, which the newspaper easily exposed. Lied about his prior work history (the paper published 3 different termination letters, to jobs he said he left voluntarily), lied about his education (he claimed a degree that the university in question unequivocally said he never got... and also stated that he continues to owe that university money for some of the courses he enrolled in, but never completed).
Even worse than hiring the guy, when the press first raised questions about his qualifications she was snarky about it, saying she'd done her homework, she's aware of the issues, and unconcerned about it. It was after that press conference that the newspaper exposed his fraud in detail, and HE resigned, the mayor didn't fire him.
Basically, she lost whatever benefit of the doubt she might have had, with that move.

Our last mayor stayed out of the spotlight the entire time (I actually think he flew out of the city to be honest), and then when he appeared, he supported the police.

Also, a big factor was the State Police, and they just ran him out on a scandal about cops taking a trip to a conference and stopping at Vegas to party. So the State Police is now in question.

Ultimately, I hope people in power behave as they should; but there's uncertainty about that.

Don't forget Fat Boy's quote from Sept 2016, that "BR will burn."
Of course last week he advised prayer.

So what? How Dabadie, Sid and Emundson handled it last time was a clinic. Every LEO in the country should been taking notes. At least Sid doesn't have to answer to our racist Mayor. Dabadie will meet his Waterloo no matter what actions he's takes, she'll get some trumped up charge to use to fire him. And Governor Turtle is so petulant over him not being able to cram all his tax increases down the legislators' throats, no telling what orders he will give the LSP.

They did a good job and it was to the textbook. They protected people's property and kept people from getting hurt.

Could you image some poor trucker driving down Airine hwy hitting one of these fools not getting out of the road or running in traffic.

It was textbook 100% even though the media painted it as over kill. They did a great job.

I'm not concerned about BR residents. I'm concerned about the outside agitators like the Black Panthers bussing in.

Remember how they fared last time? Walked in formation, fists in the air. The riot squad met them head on and they quickly broke ranks and scattered in disarray.

She was blocking the road you fricking idiot. Anybody that is blocking a public road should be taken down. They are putting lives at risk.

I thought BR residents handled themselves really well. They didn't take the bait from all the outsiders. However I certainly do not feel that a mayor who wants the PD chief fired for the response last year as one reason will allow the same thing to play out.

I expect her to pull the same shite the mayor of Baltimore did. Typically the mayor has to request help from the state. Will she? I don't think she will. She will definitely not ask for help from surrounding parishes like Kip.

Just curious, is there anyway Kip can run again after sitting out one term? Because if not, we need to change that rule.

He got so much shite for the outfits and uniforms he'd show up to press conferences to, but man alive - he didn't put up with any bullshite.

I miss me some Kip... and I usually vote Republican.
