If a girl does it as not to mess her up professionally (especially if temporary) - fine by me, i get it.
I just find it amusing when someone says that and you find out they're a pre-k teacher or something

We did something a little different...she took my first name and I kept it too...It makes for confusion at the dinner table but makes addressing envelopes easier.

However I do have a friend whose wife didn't take his last name, and they gave the kids both last name, but her last name as a middle name, so their kids had 4 names, first name, middle name, middle name (wife's last name), husband's last name.
Each kid had 2 middle names, a given name, and the wife's last name as a middle name.
And here's where the logistical issues come into play.
Most people kind of just say "meh" to the double name thing, but let's play that out to its logical conclusion...
Sarah Smith marries Justin Jones, thereby becoming Sarah Smith-Jones.
They have a kid, John Smith-Jones.
John Smith-Jones marries a girl who comes from a similar parental background. Her name is Andrea Carter-McGowan.
So now she becomes Andrea Carter-McGowan-Smith-Jones.
Anyone see where this is going?

I don't want my first or second wife to sully the good family name. She can keep hers as long as the kid has mine alone.

Yes. There was never discussion or consideration of her not taking my name.
Posted on 6/13/17 at 3:08 pm to sweetwaterbilly
Not even on the radar, but I'm the last male in the family with my last name, so she won't have much of a choice.

yeah AND kept it when we split.

That taking the last name shite has got to be on the feminist chopping block soon.
Posted on 6/13/17 at 3:21 pm to sweetwaterbilly
Does it really matter? As long as the kids have my last name, that's all that really counts...

Mine took mine, was never even a question.
Guy I know took his wife's name and was happy to do it, but his reasoning was perfect.
Guy was in and out of foster care and the last name he had, had no meaning to him since he got abandoned. His wife's family really took him in and treated him awesome and it was his first real family. He took their name, can't say I blame him at all in that circumstance. Why carry on a name that means shite to you?

Grew up with a kid who was the product of a rape. Mom met a guy and they got married and he essentially raised the kid. He took her last name. Bet he's a cuck too.

Yes.
Then she took everything else when we got divorced

Legally, yes. Although she still sometimes writes her maiden name on signatures.
