Most people have changed majors at least once. However, that does not mean that the end result is always good for the person in question. For others, it turns well for them and they enjoy a profession they otherwise would overlook.

I am just asking if anyone has any thoughts on this.

Changed my major from Zoology (pre-med) to Pussy Chasing in sophomore year. It worked out well for me, but that was twenty years ago. These days, a degree is needed to flip burgers.

In hindsight (Heck, even during the program) I wished that I changed from Electrical Engineering to Civil/Industrial.

However, regardless I would have had to take on the general sophomore weeder classes, and I was not sure if I was ready for tackling that.

In the end, I guess it turned out well since I am graduating in May with an advanced degree in EE. But I never saw that coming.

That sounds like a good change ( assuming you are serious)

Yes. From Accounting to Industrial Engineering. I'm happy with it.

I added a major. Looking back, I wonder if I added the right one. I find the experience valuable but most employers don't give a shite. Thinking about going back to school for accounting or some shite.

We get it. You are in college at southern. You don't have to keep starting new threads about it.

This is a thread about people who changed their majors. This is not specifically a Southern thread.

Am I the token Southern guy on this forum or something

I changed from something that was difficult to something in which I was already skilled. Decent career, satisfying enough work, middle-of-the-road pay. If I'd stuck with the original major, I'd be making a good bit more money -- but that's assuming I could've succeeded at the original major, and things were not working out that way at all. Just couldn't hack it, and it was a field with highly competitive, largely GPA-dependent internship opportunities that I'd never come close to landing.

I got out of journalism. That was a good decision.

Thinking about just changing to general studies and graduating as quick as I can. I've been back and forth and have so many credit hours that won't apply no matter what I choose unless it's general studies. I have no specific career I'm particularly passionate about that requires a certain degree so I'm just gonna hope for the best and have some faith
