Did Huey Long build the LSU Lakes so Southern wouldn't be constructed next to LSU?
Why would he have felt the need to do that back in his day? Couldn't he have had Southern constructed wherever the heck he wanted to?

No Edwin Edwards did it.

I've also heard that he build the old bridge too low for trading ships to go past NOLA and BR to trade/sell up river.

Doubt it. Huey wasn't a racist.

This rumor is stupid and needs to go away
South of LSU was empty pastures and farmland
Why would anyone propose to put a campus on swamp land when there is empty land next to the south side of campus?
The school was granted land on the Bluffs in 1914 and the first permanent buildings were funded in 1922 and began construction in 1923.

I figured the rumor was started and spread by latent and obvious racists... It just seemed too ridiculous to be true.
I haven't heard much to disprove it though, until now.

Posted on 5/22/15 at 12:33 am to Hugo Stiglitz
He built lakes not a fricking moat.
