Bill O Reilly

This was emailed to me. I did not see it live as I get tired of hearing both sides talk over each other but his commentary is normally worth watching. And I know I've never heard this by others or very few if so.

So? Is he by and large correct?

There's some truth to what he said. Unfortunately, he only spoke to the problems--and NOT to the many, many solutions that currently exist in cities across the nation. That is a real shame.

For example, in my home town there is an outstanding organization that works with young kids in the poorest neighborhood to:
• Provide supplemental education
• Teach socialization skills such as conflict resolution, self-responsibility, etc.
• Provide mentors and role models
• Teach healthy living habits, including diet, exercise, abstinence from drugs, etc.

This program is producing excellent results; in fact, the first group of kids, who participated in the program since its inception, have ALL graduated from high school, with many moving on to college.

The organization is supported by a number of private businesses and private citizens such as me.

Of course, solutions such as these get .00000001% of the media attention that people like O' Reilly give to the problems at hand.

Discuss the problem--but please, discuss the solutions that are working as well. At the least, this might recruit more support for the solutions--and that's what we all want, correct?

Here's the website of the organization I refer to. It was brought to my attention by a newspaper article. I actually spoke to the reporter, who vetted the organization before writing about it and verified that the results it claimed are true. Here, check 'em out:

LINK

If anyone wants to be part of the SOLUTION to the problems O'Reilly spoke of, look for such groups in your city ... and support them.

Yeah I'm not going that far and I didn't realize it was that old but nevertheless it needs to be said.

As do the works above your post.

Swing and a miss (as is your norm).

The fish rots from the head down. 90+% of African-American community leaders do not admit to the disentegration of the nuclear African-American family unit or ascribe to his suggestions of abstinence, personal responsibility and self-discipline. It's much more convenient and expedient to lay all the present issues on the doorstep of white privilege and the legacy of slavery.

The last half century of social policy towards African-Americans have been akin to running a gasoline engine on starting fluid rather than fuel. We have bankrupted our nation and we are now further away from a solution than when we started.

He tells it like it is.

He loses me when he talks about the 2nd amendment.

I don't care how old that is, it rings true to this day. It really is the elephant in the room. It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to see the cause of the problems, but to talk about them gets you labeled a racist or an Uncle Tom. Providing solutions is a much more daunting task. I have likened it to someone addicted to cigarettes, I as an outsider cannot make you quit if you don't want to. You have to want to change and then find the way. Unfortunately, with the state of public assistance the way it is today no one wants to change, only complain.

The government gives them more money for each child, so I don't thing they will stop having children out of wedlock. It's very sad. Those kids never have a chance.

Another gigantic problem in the African American community is that they render themselves voiceless by voting Democrat 90% of the time. The Democrats know they will get their vote no matter what and Rebublicans know they won't get their vote no matter what.

All I ask is that you read my post. Or better yet have some one, such as an English teacher at your middle school, read it to you and explain its content and meaning. Slowly and carefully.

another reason why the government needs to get off the back of churches and non profits that are trying to educate in places where the government has failed.

Most every church I know is pro family

All he did was identify a major source of the problem.

The first step to problem resolution, but also the easiest step.

Just because Jackson and Sharpton don't talk about it in every speech does not mean that people aren't already aware of the problem.

I was already aware of it. You were already aware of it before clicking on this thread.

Outside of advocating more communication with young black women about not getting pregnant and mandatory school uniforms, both ineffective and stupid ideas,

I didn't see any solutions?

He's right on alot of things and it's all glaringly obvious, but their culture is literally incapable of understanding the problems and admitting fault. They do not have the mental capacity to acknowledge that they have failed themselves and need to develop personal reaponsibility to climb out of the shite hole. They are literally incapable.

How about mandatory sterilization, or at a minimum implanted birth control for any woman applying to put their second child on welfare benefits?

You get a mulligan, but on the second one, we make sure there's not going to be a third one, or the women just needs to figure out how to raise two kids on the same amount of welfare that she received from the first child.

We've got to eliminate government financial incentives to have children out of wedlock.

And we need to eliminate the government financial penalty for married couples where both work.

It's really easy solutions, but have that as one of your platforms and see if you get elected to anything.
