Except three of the last four governors were Republican, including the current who has been in office since 2011

I call bullshite, they clearly just used pictures of Middleton Library and are trying to pass them off as their own.

Woodlawn High school class of 2002 checking in! I saw the pictures and immediately got nostalgic.
Wait, these aren't the pictures of the old Woodlawn High?

Was going to say the same about mine in Columbia

And the last Republican Mayor of Detroit left office in 1962.

They should be thankful. The school district I was in could never afford things like fresh mushrooms for our lunches.

All they need is more money to fix these problems because it is for the children. Looks like some schools around the Baton Rouge area.

What does the Governor have to do with how poorly the schools in Detroit are?

That is correct. That was my original point in retort to the comment "that's what years of unchecked Democrat rule will get you."

Yeah, I agree it's not the governor's fault. I'd place more blame on the school board and superintendent than anyone.

They have had a shrinking tax base and should have taken appropriate measures. I guess the teachers union wouldn't take cuts?

Sad. And while there's a lot of mismanagement there, I do wonder how much of the school could be cleaned up and fixed up if a few adult teachers organized a student group to take it on. Obviously stuff like plumbing would require professionals, but I think it wouldn't be too hard to scrub black mold or mushrooms off the walls. Would be a valuable learning opportunity that you can't rely on the government to fix everything for you.
There is a better chance of space aliens flying down to fix the problem than anything you describe happening anywhere in the USA; and most certainly not in Detroit.

Maybe all the money is being used up on:
1. Free Lunch programs.
2. Arts programs that no one cares about.
3. Mandatory teacher raises.
4. Forced tenure.
5. Levels and levels and levels of administrators that are not doing any actual work and just collecting 6 figures.
