FTR I go play in Destin every year. I usually play 1 round at a nice course: Kelley, Raven, Regatta Bay

Then I play a round with my BIL who is a beginner at a golf now hot deal place: blue water Bay, Shalimar point, fort Walton Oaks

Last, I try to get one more round in at Indian bayou. It's a favorite of mine. I have a lot of good memories and good rounds out there.

I was just wondering if I should try a new course or stick to my favorites? Are any courses in poor shape right now? Are any courses being punched?
TIA

All I remember about playing that course is having lost about 50 balls in the swamp hazards over the years.

Regatta, Indian Bayou, and choose Burnt Pine, Camp Creek, or drive down to Shark's Tooth but all 3 are private so have a pro call, Camp Creek is the best of the 3 IMO.

Vacation in June thinking Regatta but Burnt pine looks sweet. Any comparisons would be helpful

Almost every course in Destin has recently punched their greens. I was down there two weeks ago and the only one that had not was Regatta Bay. It's been about three weeks since punch and sand so most have probably grown back by now. Just make sure to ask the pro shop when you book.

Kelley was re-doing their greens and was playing on temporaries but offered no discount.

Eglin AFB has a very nice course in Niceville that is open to civilians.

They really should have a disclaimer tell you to leave the driver at home.

I'll be down May 30-June 6
Whoever posted Tiger point, I've never been, how is it

I played there a couple of times. MIL used to be an exec at a hospital. They had a retreat every year at Sandestin. We got to choose fishing or golf every year. I played Burnt Pine a couple of times. It was great. I am not a great player, so it was really tough. It was still an enjoyable course to play. The par 3 #14 is on the water. It is my favorite hole I have ever played.

Burnt Pine. (Someone mentioned Camp Creek, but I think it went private this year.)

Huge fan of Indian bayou. 27 holes too so you can play a few.
