This was announced a long time ago.

It's been in effect since Jan 1.

You just have to meet the minimum threshold for dollars spent along with the required miles/segments. And it's actually pretty low.

They'll also waive it when you spend $25k in the year on your DL Amex

That was for MQDs, this is for mileage accrual beginning in 2015

ETA - Medallion qualification remains unchanged, per flyertalk

You're right. Didn't realize it changed.
My last flight the other day:

MLU ATLMonroe, LA, US to Atlanta, GA,
MQMs
2,000 MQSs

4 MQDs*

$1,219 BASE MILES

2,000 BONUS MILES

1,000 +3,000

Total Miles

Yea I just read the link. Doesn't seem too bad and will actually help those who fly regionally on $500 tickets.

My BTR-ATL trips are $500 and I only get 2,000 miles earned. Based on this, even at the general member level I'll get 3,500 miles.

Yea, the people it will hurt most are the Diamonds flying with the 125% bonus on longer distance flights. If I don't get enough MQDs (which is looking possible since my int'l taxes and fees on my travel wont count toward them) I'll status match at UA the end of this year when I know I'll be flying a good bit.

I've liked Delta, but the SkyPesos aren't cutting it, neither is the fact that I live in a city with three hub carriers not named Delta.

Yea, the one way redemptions will be nice, though.

Once you reach gold or diamond status. Do you automatically get first class? How does that work?

You get complimentary upgrades once you hit Silver status.

Based on availability yes.

If there's 12 empty first seats in the upgrade fare class, the 5 diamonds will clear at the 7 day window, followed by the 5 plats.

At the three day window, the two highest fare class bookings by golds will clear.

Tie breaker goes to time of booking and Amex reserve card holder.

My tickets have actually changed this year. The price has stayed the same but I now get a Y fare on 2 of my 4 segments

This will help me but I think the travelers that are attracted to Delta will hurt me in the end

The one thing that does worry me is that they have not released their new award charts

American did tell me that if I was willing to switch to them this year they would make me platinum for the year

Yea. Idk what I'm going to do.

May just get the Barclays card and stop shooting for status.

Golfer what does the Barclay's card do?

Also for standard miles so far this year I would have earned about 23% more based on my calculations. My ticket prices have been pretty high all year.
