Have you ever wanted to drive the Amtrak from NO to Chitago?

Lol.. No they are foaming out the mouth waiting for a train to pass.

Yeah crews don't normally want their faces on videos or pictures.. It doesn't bother me because I'm usually wearing my glasses and ear plugs but I always hang my head out the window and usually holler something..
I rarely take pictures with anyone's face, and when I do, I keep the photo to myself unless I have permission.
I would hate to accidentally post a photo of some safety violation.
One foamer was allowed up for a cab visit, then he posted it on one of the train sites. I emailed him and he took the photos down.

Do all enthusiast have that same regard for others or is it hit or miss?

Just saw your edit.. That's good of you! Sometimes we go out on a limb.. I've heard of some instances where the foamer sent in the video of a violation and the crew got in trouble for it. I think that's where the dislike comes from.

Not necessarily going that far... But sometimes it's odd to see a grown man out there trying to get you to honk and there's no children around or anything like that.

Definitely hit or miss. I hang out with a fan who is a dentist and one who works for WATCO and both have sense about what to photograph and what to post online.
Most of the photographers are good and don't post stuff that needs to stay offline. But, a few report and a few assert their "right" to photograph people in public without realizing that a good rapport with train crews will reap rewards. The two best trains I ever shot were both the results of friendly crews telling me to "wait ... check out the next train."
The problem is that the few douches seem to create a lot of issues.

It's too go to be true...
Did you see the one where the conductor kicked the guy to close to the tracks recording with his cell phone.. That guy got paid from what I heard

There are some dumbasses though. One guy roiled the UP when they were running their steam train - he put his camera on a remote in the middle of the rails, and it ended up getting mowed down by the steam train.
So now, when the train stops, UP railroad police are on the scene.
