Day 3 (Sunday) - Baton Rouge BLM peaceful protest thread
Posted by Will Cover on 7/10/16 at 8:31 am1123
Recap from Day 2 (Saturday)
- Based upon my observations from the many live feeds that I viewed on Periscope and Facebook, the BRPD did a better job than Forrest Gump in ruining the Black Panther party demonstration. Initially, the New Black Panther Party appeared very poised, determine and motivated early Saturday morning. However, as the day progressed, they were absent, lacked leadership and direction, and potentially could have worn down because of the heat. I personally prefer to think that it was due to our fine men and women in the blue and they realized this is the deep south and we won't take their misinformed rhetoric and hate speech.
The Mall of Louisiana appeared to be business as usual despite initial false reports that "they had shut it down." At Triple S convenience store, there were several instances of "in-house" bickering and dissension among the protesters due to the lack of direction that their leaders provided to them that were caught on camera.
Melvin "Kip" Holden is still Baton Rouge's mayor, despite the threat of turning this demonstration from peaceful to violence if he doesn't resign within 72 hours.
In my opinion, all law enforcement agencies in Louisiana that contributed to keeping the peace did their jobs very well, minimizing violence. This is a great time to be very proud of Baton Rouge public safety officials and the decisions and actions they have taken!
And one of the highlights of my night, was watching well known Black Lives Matter activist DeRay McKesson get arrested by Baton Rouge police for disobeying an officer's repeated command of staying off a state public highway.
All in all, 101 people were arrested on Saturday as a result of not obeying the laws of our land while peacefully demonstrating. Charges range from blocking a roadway, disobeying police and inciting a riot.
Day 3 (Sunday):
Feel free to add your opinion below to this thread on what you personally observed.
And whether you like quick service restaurants or not, please ensure that you or someone you know goes out and support Chick-fil-A this week and for weeks to come. Chick-fil-A dares to be different and it shows. They hire better people, aren't afraid to speak their business or religious views, are closed on Sundays, provides a better product and are always gracious in giving back to their community in which they serve. Popeye's, Burger King and McDonald's should take note.
Continue to stay safe on the streets of Baton Rouge and watch yourself and your loved one's surroundings!

Hopefully brpd rolled out a bomb robot on the Panthers and they ran.
Excellent work by Leo this week.
I'm sure finding out the mall opened as scheduled was a blow to the movement.

Wouldn't it be funny if they drove a bomb robot around out there just for the hell of it

No, they are seeing that down here in the south that if you break the law, you going to jail.
Great job LEO's. Take none of that BS.

I bought a few cases of water and swung by BRPD before the bullshite started. They were very appreciative. If anybody else feels the urge, the entrance off the side street on the Petsmart side is open but blocked by BRPD cars. The cops guarding will take the water to the building.
