People from any city do that

People take pride in where they live. It's not exclusive to Dallas.

Fair enough. It pisses me off (which is my own hang up) because when I lived in Dallas or talk to family in Dallas, I constantly have to hear about how great Dallas is.

This is true.

It does have a lot going for it. That said, I know a lot of Dallas folks who really act like there is never any reason to venture outside of Dallas. It's kind of a boring existence in some respects. It's a pleasant one, but unadventurous.

Everyone I've ever met from Houston thinks it is God's gift to Earth. Although most texans I've met feel that way about the lone star state.

But in all fairness, and this ties back to my comment about the current of insecurity running through Dallas, people from Dallas are particularly sensitive to criticism about their city. It reminds me of a little brother wanting to hang with the big boys instead of just being content with who it is. Hence all of the Dallas-ites trying to act like they are Los Angelinos.

People from major cities like L.A., NYC, or Chicago don't really get their panties in a wad when someone criticizes their city.

Dallas is a drought stricken lower Midwestern hell hole with inferior restaurants and currently worse in 2 of the 3 major sports

Eh I enjoy both cities and love Dallas, but they are kind of in your face about it whether you ask or not.

Dude, Austin is way different than Houston or Dallas...and it's not part of the discussion.

I really don't give 3 fricks. Just saying Austin Runs circles around both in terms of quality of life. Houston is humid as frick, gross fricking concrete jungle that has a handfull of decent place to live, better food than Dallas but not as good as Austin but its closer to south louisiana . Dallas is fake as rubber dildo yet clean but still a big hot mess . If I had to prefer it would be Dallas.

Have to disagree with pappas... Last time I was there with a chick, she ordered a mojito and the bartender had no idea what was in it. Food was meh IMO.

MI Cocina and Chuy's > Pappasitos

If you think any of these three places offer top notch Tex Mex I just feel bad for you. I'm pretty sure there's Mi Cocina and Chuy's in places like Atlanta and DC, gtfo with this shite

I don't think people understand the crazy amount of great, diverse restaurants that have popped up in Houston in the last 3-5 years...and there's a new one opening pretty much every week.
