When some turn to church, others go to crossfit
Article about what makes a religion a religion. Uses crossfit as an example (as well as college football, and star trek).

Is it still OK to post crossfit threads?

I have a friend who was a disbeliever until he got into the crossfit cult. He met a woman there and they came to Jesus. Jesus just bestowed triplets on his arse at age 48. If you don't believe in my man JC after this little story, keep it up, you will...

I'll always respect Crossfit for allowing women that are 9 months pregnant to perform overhead Olympic lifts.

Nevermind it has one of the highest injury rates among new workout goers. I read a medical journal article recently indicating the higher prevalence of aortic disection with Crossfiters.

But it's cool, even if you're 9months pregnant.

Meh, we've all heard of dumber ideas for religions. Like Shintoism, what's up with that?

I don't have a problem with crossfit. I have a problem with people that pimp crossfit and suck at it. It is similar to the religious right that gets caught up in a prostitution ring.

I think Advocare qualifies as an offshoot of Crossfit. I think they buy into a lot of the same nonsense. I didn't realize how nutty those people were until I was talking to this chick at a bar who was trying to explain "nutrient extraction" to me. She was trying to convince me that putting a banana into a special blender and then drinking it would give me more nutrients than if I just ate the banana. I told her we already have built-in blenders, they're called teeth. She sold Advocare. She was pretty fired up about her cause.

Nah, she wasn't having either of those. Although I probably could have convinced her that she could get some pretty legit nutrient extraction from sticking a banana in her arse, like a suppository.

She was referring to the peel of the banana. A lot of nutrients found in fruits and vegetables are in the skin.

How do you know what she was referring to?

There are two girls that are Beachbody fanatics on my Facebook and they post about it every single day. They are just as bad as the Crossfitters.

I get that. I don't do the crossfit, but I have been a member of some close running groups. We encourage each other, and it definitely motivates me to run more. But that is the extent of it.

I am trying to think of other associations I have that could be elevated to the level of "religion" as this article states. Can't think of any. Maybe Tigerdroppings.
