About two weeks after a lunch, I get this email:

quote:

Your tip was 30% or more, and we hope it’s because your service was exceptional. However, we wanted to check in, in case this charge needs to be reviewed. If you’re aware of this charge and it’s not a mistake, you don’t need to do anything. If you have concerns about this tip, sign in to your transactions page to view this in more detail.

So what was this super generous "might be fraud" tip I left? Lunch was $11.42. Tip was $3.50.

I'm glad they're looking out for me, but damn, give a waiter a little slack.

Got one of those last week. It's a good feature.

Who is the credit card with? I get an email alert everytime I use my amex to buy something online as a "card not present transaction" alert.

They should have had an Ashley Madison credit card alert. It may have saved a lot of grief.

I approve of this policy.

Now if they could only detect when places like the Chili's take-out counter adds a $1 tip when you don't write anything, which I sometimes do as an experiment when getting take-out.

I got one a month ago from Boudreaux and Thibadeaux downtown.

Had two whiskey drinks on my tab. Should have been about a $25 tab. Well they charged me $55 on the tab and put a $35 tip.

Tried calling up there but no one ever returned my call. Cap 1 took care of it though.

I won't ever go back to B&Ts

You'd be suprised at how many dumb people put "0.00" on the tip line

1.) the effort you put into writing out that you aren't tipping that person pisses off that person a little

2.) said irritated waiter can now change the receipt to add a tip and do it easily if they were kind of a shitty person like that

I draw a line thru the tip space if I'm not using it and I draw a line to the left of the number when I do leave a tip on the credit slip

I didn't know what to expect, hence the "experiment" aspect. I thought it pretty ridiculous to (a) have a tip line on takeout and even more so, (b) add any fee whatsoever behind the patron's back. I was pretty offended in principle.

Even more ridiculous was having a tip line on the receipts for the Voodoo BBQ that used to be at the mall. It was just a serving line, no different than Chick-Fil-A next door.

When the Bulldog first opened in BR, I had a $7 dollar tab with a $2500 tip . Overdrafted my account. Apparently employee accidentally punched their employee ID in the wrong box when entering tips at the end of the night or something. They were cool about it and even covered my overdraft fees.

Why didn't you make the tip 3.58 to make it an even 15 bucks? Was it Columbus day or something?

Didn't really care whether the total was a round number. Will get a bill for all charges at the end of the month, and that will not likely be a whole dollar figure. But it doesn't matter. Will just type those numbers in and e-pay the bill.

I used to get my gas pump total to a nice figure. If it stopped on 23.17, I'd bump it to 23.25. Holdover from when we paid cash and got change. One day I watched a friend just hang up the pump on some odd figure and thought it was weird. Then I realized that with credit cards it doesn't matter.

And yes, it was Capital One.
