Honestly? I don't worry about it. It doesn't affect my salvation one whit.

But no basic curiosity whatsoever?

I know all of this. To be clear, I am not religious. I do not believe in any of that stuff. I was raised Catholic and have affection for the Church but do not believe in any of that.

I see Theistic Evolution as a way to get Christians to be reasonable. The second you tell a religious person "THESE TEACHINGS ARE NOT COMPATIBLE THEREFORE YOU MUST BELIEVE THESE FACTS" they will automatically tune you out and not listen to reason or logic at all.

Theistic Evolution is a way to crack the door open, and let a certain amount of belief coexist. I would rather Christians get educated and believe in that than not even listen, personally.

I mean, wouldn't it still not affect your salvation by getting educated?

t being said, the earth is round.

Case in point...the earth is best described as being a sphere. If you said ROUND, and people took that literally, then they could interpret that as being a flat disc...right?

What if they didn't get the memo from folks like Aristophanes about the earth being a sphere and simply assumed the book meant flat like a disc? Fast forward 4 thousand years and we're arguing about the reality of a giant boat hauling around a zoo to avoid a global flood...

It still just boggles the fricking mind that people typing something on a computer that can fit in their pocket, in 2017, using something as amazing as the internet, that have access to hundreds of TV Channels and almost all of the information in the world at their fingertips...

Can believe the Noah story. I mean...wtf.

If the flood covered the earth, what happened to the animals that lived in freshwater/saltwater specific habitats? Their homeostasis and osmotic regulation mechanisms are very different between fresh vs. salt water enivironments. I know that there are animal that can live in both environments (some dolphins and sharks) but most cannot.

Noah had a bunch of aquariums on the Ark, duh.

Not disagreeing...just pointing out that what you are describing and what gets trotted out as Intelligent Design are two REMARKABLY different and frankly incompatible ideas. Run of the mill Christians get suckered into going along with these con-artists because they hear the team and aren't critical enough to look into the difference in what they actually are arguing for. You can see it here all the time as that term gets tossed out, only to be walked away from by them when it gets explained.

Believe me, I'm more honey rather than vinegar from a strategic standpoint too. It's just that I worry about this term and ID being confused, and the confusion could be hugely important.

I did some googling and here is an article about Ken Ham's take on an atheist reviewing the Ark.

The site can definitely come off snarky but is interesting none-the-less.

But what if there isn't salvation, what if instead of helping the world be a better place before you go that your passive and active lack of knowledge inspires those around you to be just as lethargic in bettering their one shot for others and themselves.?

If I were infinitely powerful and infinitely wise I would have made mankind the right way the first time.

Imagine a skilled crafter, a carpenter for example, bragging that he is the greatest carpenter that ever was or ever will be. So great, in fact that he deserves to be worshipped. And then he proceeds to create furniture so fricked up that he is forced to burn them all out of shame.

staid also means "unadventurous". If you're going to this place I think that's a pretty apt description.

Yeah stories like Eden and the flood really throw a wrench in the omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent but God damn do they love holding them up as God's works.

Eden:

The all-knowing lets his greatest work be corrupted by a lower order of his creation.

Then can't find his greatest creation when he looks for him, cuz he hid.

Flood comes around because his creation is off the leash, but he didn't do a damn thing to stop it, goes with destruction.
