That's normal for an amateur golfer. Like I said, shoot 80 with 32 putts and you're only needing 9 more shots to get to 41.

4 holes where you're inside of 100 for your approach (two short par 4's and 2 medium-length par 5's), plus 5 missed greens with chips/pitches and you're there.

Speaking of wedges, if any of you suck at wedge game and you don't want to practice that aspect, go demo the Nike Engage wedges. look hideous but feel fantastic and I never chunk a wedge around the greens anymore.

It can apply to very good golfers too. If you play par golf as it's intended to be played, you'll have 2 shots inside 100 on every hole, plus a third on some, if not all of the par 5s depending on the course.

This discussion misses the point anyway. You're going to improve your score with your short game, not your long game, unless you're simply unable to hit the ball (28+ handicap bad). I couldn't disagree more with everyone in this thread saying to get one wedge and learn how to hit that one. It's much more difficult to alter your swing for a certain yardage using the same club, than it is to use the same (or very similar) swing with different clubs based on the yardage.

searched craigslist all morning for a set of decent used clubs.

Right handed or left handed? I have a nice set of Calloway Steelheads I'm trying to sell for under $250. Can't remember if they are X-16s or X-14s off the top of my head.

Heather Mills reportedly sometimes only packs one wedge.

Is she crazy?

Ask Sir Paul off the record.

56/10 S grind from Calloway

Do you understand what the second number stands for? If so, learn how to use it on your current wedges and save $100

This guy gets it. Same speed swing from a couple top points with 2-3 wedges is way easier than trying to adjust speed and having 8-10 tops.

I can flop with a pw if I lay it in it's side.
Not the point though.

Use the clubs way they are intended.
