feared for his life

'in order to save your life and that of your partner"

the arrogance of cops is amazing...turns completely around to the cop being a victim

talking about a gun in L.A. situation, basically if you say f*ck the cops, you may have a gun and need to be treated as a threat to a sacred officer's life.

sheriff grills and ridicules reporters. instead of answering to the public, he attacks them for daring to question his precious police

cop mentality is really nuts

I feel like the kid deserved to be taken down and deserved some whooping, but that many closed fist strikes to the face was just unnecessary. JPSO will lose this one.

kid was a smart arse punk and deserved to be arrested for interfering with an arrest.

'whoopin' is not a police function though.

English. Do you speak it?

Periods and other punctuation coupled with complete sentences might help convey your point. Just a suggestion. Let me help you.

I find his argument that "in order to save your life and that of your partner" to be ludicrous.

I find the arrogance of cops to be amazing. He completely turns the scenario around to make the cop a victim.

Etc. Etc. You get the idea?

Just trying to raise the level of discourse beyond frick THE POLICE!!! That shite is getting boring.

I agree he should have arrested the kid. Taking that kid to jail would have probably scared him the necessary amount to not pull that shite again. And it would be a respectable decision and no one would argue that.

If cops don't want all this negative hate then they need to start doing things by the book and win the respect of the people instead of just beating them in the face.

They should of pepper sprayed him or tased him. Yeah he did put his hands up, but that's a normal reaction to getting your face pummeled.
I have seen the JPSO 'act a fool' at parades.

I remember this super fine chick come up to us smoking a block from a parade, ask to 'hit the blunt'. Once it's handed to her, this bitch pulls out a radio and the people in the parking lot rush us. All cops in plain clothes. No one went to jail, on person got a misdemeanor summons.
Learned never to smoke near the parades in JP, in NOLA that shite flies, but not JP.

I loved how he ranted about the cop doing the right thing and how he would have done the same. Then at the end of the interview he states how all the facts have not been brought to him yet. Great job diffusing the situation Newell. Fkn tard.

Cop gonna cop.

If this is true JPSO is complete garbage. Go watch newell normands reaction video on nola.com. That scum tried to play the race card when talking about the child's attorney. What low lifes. Give me a cop on this board who wants to defend the plainclothes officers and the corrupt JPSO. Too bad you police officers could't cut it in college.

What an a-hole. This is a great video on how not to perform at a press conference like this. I love how is trying to play the character assassination game with this boy and his family while completely ignoring his officers troubled past with these exact cases. It is amazing how these guys will defend their own. It's definitely an us vs them mentality. We see this in a lot of instances throughout our country.

That's KIND OF why we're in this exact situation, isn't it? That for far too long officers have been under the delusion that they also function as judge and jury and are in a position to administer beat downs, not just as are argued to be necessary in order to subdue, but literally in retaliation.

All I picture is this when I see someone argue police ought to be handing out justice ion the streets.

That's just a tenable situation to have...and it's why you're steadily seeing the public balk at police when before they were roundly supported. The issue isn't even with those people or communities in general who have long disliked police...it's with those who have long supported police ALSO coming to the realization that they are one bad cop away from being the victim of some crazy arse assault.

The cops job isn't to administer punishments. That's the whole point of the judicial system. That's what separates America from the rest of the shitty world.
