But I see nothing wrong with saving up for a once in a lifetime type trip and spending 25k on it.

next year is our 20th anniversary, I hope to god I do not spend that much and we are going to europe

Are there preferable areas for those not doing all inclusive to be closer to restaurants etc? House would be cool, but resort is fine too.

If you spend 25k in Europe, you tried pretty hard to .

Fly Ryan Air, if you book early enough and don't frick up missing flights its way cheaper than taking trains.

But really, we're talking about a $1500-$2500 difference between these 2 destinations and a place like St. Lucia, Bora Bora or some of the Virgin Islands. I'm not tryin to get stuck in a hurricane.

Yes you want to stay around downtown by the Marina…plenty of hotels to choose from where all the action occurs…beaches, booze, & great local food…I can't underestimate the food…everything tastes so fresh even the Crazy Lobster with cheap tex-mex is amazing…I wouldn't want to stay outside of the city as there is nothing to do and the food is too good to eat all your meals at one spot.

Ok, I fricked up on that "difference" between Bora Bora and Cabo.

I'm not trying to fly way the hell out there anyways. But Cabo will probably be my choice. I read one comment stating "don't do all-inclusive" and followed with the fact that there are nearby restaraunts.

I figured an all-inclusive resort would just spare me a lot of trouble. Am I wrong?

I get to use the OT favorite word, All inclusive hotels are trashy.

Cabo has good food and bars outside the hotel so it worth not feeling obligated to eat/drink at the hotel.

Been to both, Cozumel better beaches and diving. Cabo is nicer* and it is more fun

*Mexico is a lot like New Orleans. It is really violent with lots of crime but it is easily avoidable

Exactly...there are plenty of restaurants and bars around the marina where you can sit outside and watch the boats come and go and people go by. It's very relaxing and not real expensive. That was one of my favorite parts of the trip just hanging out around the marina.
