Absolutely absurd to pay that much for a vacation.

That's on the high end.
You're looking at about $5k for airfare for two. It could be done on the cheap end at about $10k for a week, but realistically more in the $12-15k range for a week. You can easily hit $20-25k if you "do it right".

What about for one day....as in a wedding?

At least with the vacation....it's more than just one day.

You can fly into Belize City then take the ferry out to the outer Cayes for the same price as a flight to Cancun.

The Belize Barrier reef is one of the best places in the world to dive.

you could probably go to Bora Bora for under 10k if you don't stay in an overwater bungalow and stay on the mainland. But why travel that far if you aren't going to go all out? Staying in the overwater bungalow is part of the experience!

So you can pretty much see everything from 60 to 100 feet?

I've been to both.

Cabo by a landslide. Don't do all inclusive.

Great restaurants and bars/clubs

Roatan, Ambergris Caye, Cayman Islands to name a few.

That said, I've always enjoyed Cozumel. Then again I'm usually drunk on tequila at Rastas when I'm there.

Cabo is a great town, but you really aren't swimming in the ocean. Nightlife is great. Cozumel and Play are also nice but different. Much better scuba and snorkeling. I would choose Cabo over Cozumel if you want to get into town and enjoy the nightlife or offshore fishing. Food is probably better in Cabo also...

Any idea if diving in Costa Rica is worth a shite? I'll be going there for a wedding in February and thinking about doing some diving while there.

There really aren't any cheap resorts on Bora Bora. It's a good, better, best type of scenario.

For calm blue water, relaxing, and diving....coz

For awesome billfishing and hard partying...cabo

Coz has zero nightlife. Divers go to bed early
