A YouTube feed of a Counter-Strike game took an unexpected turn today, when it was interrupted by a very real SWAT team that happened to be sweeping the building. The gamers in the video are part of The Creatures, a group based in Littleton Colorado that publishes videos to YouTube and Twitch, and since the broadcast was in progress during the raid, their entire arrest ended up on the livestream.

Because the police search turned up no weapons, it's likely that The Creatures were the target of Swatting, the increasingly common practice of rallying police to a location through a phony 911 call. According to a local news report, the entire building was evacuated, and photos show a fully armed police squad sweeping the parking lot. The office complex is just a few miles east of Columbine High School, site of the 1999 school massacre.

Militarized police forces with no legal reason or warrant to break into a residence.

So if the guy wasn't wearing headphones, the SWAT team would have heard shots coming from that room, and they might have come in shooting for real. I guess the guy was lucky.

:wow:

Who needs a warrant? It's the military, I mean the police department. Cops suck

Can't they charge him for wasting government resources? Seems like an expensive prank...

Swatting happens daily, and to BIG name celebrities, but the news has an agreement with law enforcement not to do stories on it. Of course if it gets captured live and everyone already knows about an incident they will report it but they don't mention the vast majority of them.

I agree that the police suck but in this case I don't blame them. Its super easy to get any # to show up on a caller idea so all you have to do is call the police and have the homes landline show up as the #. If no landline call from a burner phone and just be standing outside the house when you make the call and give the address, they will confirm with GPS which will make you seem legit. Once they do that they tell the police they have shot someone and are going to kill someone else. The police kind of HAVE to respond at that point.

If you get a burner phone for $50 and download the free spoofcard app you can literally "swat" anyone and your odds of getting caught are next to nothing.

. Police need to stop breaking into people's homes with rifles pointed in everyone's face.

At least if their only cause for suspicion is an anonymous phone call.
How is this even a question?

Nah, I just recently watched a documentary on it that was very interesting. I forget the name but they showed you EXACTLY how to do it.

I love the cop asked "Something funny about this to you?"

I would have laughed my arse off. I didn't do anything wrong and I wouldn't be afraid to tell them. And I damn sure wouldn't have told them I was streaming.

Don't get me wrong, I would have been fully cooperative. But him saying that would have rubbed me the wrong way.
