Could Baton Rouge support a minor league baseball team?

Seems with the massive following of a bottom tier collegiate sport like baseball in the city, bringing a minor league team to BR could garner support and help boost some sort of economy. I know they've tried with Arena football and hockey stuff, but seems those are more gimmicky than having a real MLB affiliated team to support.

Thoughts?

No, by the time LSU is done with baseball, Baton Rouge is ready for football.

No there's not room for 2 baseball teams. LSU baseball would outdraw it 5-1 and by the time that ended football would be starting.

Nope, they'd get a smaller crowd than the box

Why bring something here that would have to compete with LSU baseball?

Yes. It could support an A or AA club with a 7500 seat stadium.

LSU football has just about priced itself out for the average person and LSU baseball is into league play and CWS by the time the season would start, so not many tix available to split fanbase.

They would need to build the stadium south of the bridge

Don't almost all minor league teams get smaller crowds than LSU baseball? Especially lower than the AAA level.

Honestly I think it could work, considering the bulk of the season would be after LSU baseball is over. The main thing would be location, location, location... Goldsby Field isn't going to cut it.

I would rather see the Pelicans be replaced with a MLB team

I don't think this really matters. A team would hemerage money. Nobody would watch. If you don't go to the LSU games your going to watch them on TV. The team would have 0 support as far as fans and sponsors. There is no way it would work.

That, plus it would absolutely HAVE TO be an affiliated farm team for an MLB club, and not the independent shite they've had the last few times.

BR will not support any team that isn't called LSU.

Sad, but true.
