Cops can legally have sex with prostitutes in order to arrest them for it?

After seeing the affidavit, Bales believed the actions of the undercover officer violated a department rule prohibiting sexual conduct while on-duty, a violation punishable by termination. The lawsuit states the police chief later concluded the officer did not violate that rule because he was engaging in sexual conduct only to obtain evidence as part of an arrest.

Cop who reported the incident was fired because he leaked information that revealed the identity of the undercover cop who is apparently protecting and serving us by sleeping with prostitutes from backpages. Anyhow, I find the practice to be oddly hypocritical. The officer is sleeping with the prostitute as part of his job (if you believe that) but they are arresting the other person for.. sleeping with somebody for money.

On the bright side, our tax dollars are funding the whole operation.

Isn't prostitution still a misdemeanor if it involves consenting adults? Cops sure do like worrying about this particular crime.

They also buy drugs to catch drug dealers. Speed to catch speeders. Kill people to stop killers.

Shall I go on?

Not the same thing and you know it.

This is the equivalent of using the drugs after buying them.

None of those are good analogies. The closest analogy would be that they sell drugs to the public to catch drug dealers.

You don't have to actually have sex with a prostitute in order to arrest her for prostitution, btw. It's obviously just police lying (per usual) in order to cover their asses.

The prostitute then told the officer to “get comfortable,” after which he got naked, according to the report. J.B. said the prostitute then began performing a sex act on him, after which he arrested her on suspicion of misdemeanor prostitution.

The affidavit states the officer took his clothes off “because he believed that such action was necessary to gather the proof needed to convict the person for violating the prostitution statute.” The officer went on to state his actions were needed in order to obtain the proper probable cause to make a legal arrest. Police said the extra effort was needed because the suspect was posing as a masseuse.

You just can't make this shite up.

Obviously this story is BS because, according to the OT, all cops are TPOS that don't report the misconduct of other cops.

The killing one and speeding ones are perfect analogies. They break the law just as much as the perp to catch/stop the perp.

You're equating having sex with a suspect to speeding. Are you a cop?

The speeding analogy might work if the cop pulled up next to a car and asked him to go faster then gave him a ticket when he did.
