Years of conflict between a housing developer and a contractor culminated in a disaster when the latter damaged the tar-sealed road leading to a section in Kampung Jeriah, cutting off not only the connectivity but also the water supply to 20 houses there.

The developer, who is also a resident there, was shocked to see the demolition on Friday.

“I saw three excavators and four lorries on the road that morning. He (contractor) has not only damaged the road, but also broken the piping underneath it — cutting off the water supply to this area. Fortunately, I managed to stop him from doing more damage,” he told the police here.

Acting on his report, police despatched two mobile patrol units to the scene, where personnel from Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) and Sibu Water Board (SWB) were also present.

On the reason behind the incident, the developer said the contractor accused him of refusing to settle the final payment for the completion of the road.

This has been going on for 10 years now apparently so I am pretty sure he gave up on payment.

He will get sued by everyone not able to leave their house now and everyone he left without water.

Probably have some criminal charges as well.

First off, this isn't America. Many of those countries don't even have an LLC form, nor do they allow any sort of business enterprise to be created by solely one person. Thailand for example is pondering allowing this in the future.

Secondly, just because you form an LLC doesn't keep you out of the doghouse for personal conduct, and again, seeing how this isn't America, it may not be good for him.

This is very true. I know the contractor was probably pissed off and wanted to get back at the developer but he's got to realize there are better ways. I wonder if the contractor tried to legally get his payment before this?

Either way, the contractor is a dumbass for that and is now liable for all that damage and will probably have criminal charges brought against him as well as someone else mentioned.
