Concerning St. Martin Parish,

which I believe is Louisiana's only non-contiguous parish, can one drive from St. Martinville to the southeastern part of the parish (Stephensville) without leaving the Parish?

Wikipedia says St. Martin was cut in two by a surveying error when Iberia Parish was created in 1868. I'm wondering why that was never corrected.

LA997, I always thought it was funny while driving from Belle River to Bayou Pigeon to see "Entering Iberia Parish" so far away from New Iberia.

On another note, I've always thought the outline of Iberia Parish looks like the head of a sandpiper or a seagull. Anyone see it?
