There's a fine line between annoyance with the PC parade and straight up intolerance. That lunatic clearly sides with the latter. He probably wouldn't want gays to have a fraction of the rights heterosexual people have.

Be honest and accept that some people including family won't support you.. Be mindful of falling into a state of depression and find a support group of either friends or some type of anonymous group.. You are who you are and acceptance by others shouldn't be your overriding plan.

No real advice, but good luck to you.
My wife's sister came out to me and said not to tell anyone. She eventually told my wife and rest of family 6 months later. She was afraid of their judgemental overreaction, and she was right. They got over it tho.
