A friend called me asking for tips on stand up comedy clubs to take a date in NOLA. I don't know of any but I'm sure the OT can produce some solid suggestions. TIA

By and large, nothing beats The New Movement. They do all types of comedy from standup, improv, sketch, etc...and it's cheap. You'll have a great time.

NOLA Comedy Theater on Freret Street. They advertise family friendly as well.

Do not go to Nola Comedy Theater or La Nuit unless you want to see garbage.

Lester Earl was right with Comedy frick Yeah at Dragons Den. Also checkout Comedy Beast in the howling wolf Den Tuesday night's, Comedy Gold at the HOB on Wed, and Night Church at Sidney's Saloon on Thursday. Carrollton station has a great open Mic that last about 3 hours on Wednesdays. Any of these shows will feature the best comedian's in the city and sometimes you'll get drop ins from the likes of Hannibul Burress, Louis CK, or countless others from around the country.

Every single one of these shows is FREE

All this, especially the Wolf's Den. Also, Matt Owens who opened for Louis CK, puts together Stand Up NOLA at the Joy every 2 months or so. The last one was last friday so the next won't be for a bit.

The mayor usually gives a news conference about once a week. Thank you ladies and gentlemen, drive safely, and remember to tip your waiter.

Best comedy in NOLA is by far the city council meetings.

Yeah, Matt's a funny guy too! I was only thinking of the weekly shows but this is a great oppurtunity to see a bunch of the best at once.

Every Saturday night at Hi Ho Lounge there's a great monthly local comedy show. Check out the Rip Off Show on May 28th. Gonna be good one!
