They couldn't start growing plants for their recreational customers until Jan 1st. Supply is going to be very short until the first harvest comes in this spring. Prices will probably keep going up until then.
Same thing is happening in Washington. They can't bring in weed off the streets that would keep the price down. They're starting from scratch as they are being watched and have to follow certain rules.
A few harvests will bring the price down and then they will stay down.
When Washington first passed their law on legalization the street prices in Oregon INSTANTLY dropped. I know people who had no connections getting an instant discount. The local dealers will have to keep the prices low/lower to keep their customers from driving 10 miles into Washington and buying it legally.
