Has this College Drive reconfiguration / enhancement project been discussed? First I’m seeing any details.

Phase 1 calls for a new road (Backage Rd) that’ll run behind that Chickfila, Panda Express, etc., and in front of Hobby Lobby. Their idea is to move local traffic off College.

Another new road (Concord Ave Ext) will run between Wal Mart and Office Depot and will spill out onto College Drive at a relocated intersection near that Capital One.

Phase 2 will widen College Drive with a continuous median among other improvements.

The project should reduce travel time between Perkins and I-10 by up to 43% in peak periods per the traffic benefits slide on their site.

Nice to see the city finally doing something that will help people. Can't wait to see it in action in 2033.

This is good, but will be 20 years late to the party by the time it’s done.

If it makes it easier to get to Thai Kitchen, I'm all in.

I lived in that neighborhood for a long time and I almost never needed to drive on college. If I needed to go to that walmart or towards the Perkins overpass I’d cross college at Bennington and come out on Perkins by that sonic. If I needed to get on the interstate I’d take Constitution and it’s basically a u-turn onto I-10. If I needed to go south on Perkins I’d come out of the neighborhood at Congress. As a local I hardly ever drove on College despite living right off it.

Sure would be great if they could continue that new road north to Valley Street and up towards Acadian Thruway......

Also, an on ramp at the end of Constitution to go eastbound on I 10 would be a wonderful way to skip College Drive.

yeah. Add grass medians all along college. those do so well in BR.

Otherwise, hopeful to see how this does. Also, let's get rid of the Speedzone C-store. it does nothing for the neighborhood but attract trash.

Not a bad idea

I like it but highly unlikely. They’re already planning on consolidating access points to I-10 with the upcoming expansion.

I believe there’s studies that show that less/consolidated entry points help reduce interstate traffic/wrecks.

There's a few homeless under the bridge by the seafood place but there aren't any encampments

Shockingly, we don't allow that shite on that road. This isn't Nola: |

I avoid College Drive like the plague, just so I can avoid the traffic. It's a wonder more people don't do it. The only help for that street is to turn it into one big pedestrian mall.

SERIOUSLY? This is the best they can come up with?? These "streets" are already paved parking lots and I already drive on them when I am in this area to cut through. Why are we, the tax payers, going to purchase this property from private citizens for a crazy price, just so we can maintain the asphalt through these parking lots??
