What's a good present for someone expecting a baby? A really good friend of mine is expecting child. No pics. I'd like to get her something thoughtful that she will keep for a long time. I am drawing a blank though. Help me OT!

Rather than something thoughtful, go for the practical route. Diapers, formula, baby wipes, baby shampoo, etc.

An inexpensive gift you could give her is a clear ornament that she can place baby's hat and wristband from the hospital.

I just had a baby. Please do not give her a blanket. I must have 20 blankets and I can't fathom using them all, because I already do laundry all the time and have a few we rotate out.

One of my best friends waited until my daughter was born and gave us a baseball bat custom made to her length at birth, engraved with her name/bday/time of birth/stats. My husband is a big baseball fan and we have a bat like this for our wedding date. Hands down the best thing I got, albeit not useful to her at this point.

Useful things she will appreciate: any sort of food (if you live in an area with a concierge service see if you can buy her a few hours to do what she needs...my family has run around picking up prescriptions and groceries and stuff but that would be excellent), diapers/wipes or a Target gift card to buy those things, etc. Unless you know her personality well enough to get a keepsake, go for practical.

Maybe a gift certificate for a massage or as a lot have mentioned a gift card to target for baby supplies.

A birth certificate keepsake holder. It's on a stand you roll it up in the decorative holder.

This X1000, however if you get diapers get 2s or 3s their kid will be in those things before they know it.
Target, Walmart, Sam's, Carter's gift cards will be used within weeks of the kid being born.

They may at first say "yeah a gift card" sarcastically, but when they need diapers and have spent a ton of money on the hidden cost of kids, they will thank you.

How far along is she? Women in the third trimester usually can't reach their feet. You might want to get a gift certificate to a day spa.

Something smaller (stocking stuffer type thing) might be coiler shoelaces, for the same reason.
