My sister works in the aerospace industry and they have a scheduled shut down every year from 12/25-1/1. They will prob get off by noon today and yesterday they told them they are getting off 1/2.

We typically get the week between Christmas and New Year, but it isn't guaranteed until we get that email right after Thanksgiving. Everyone is on high email alert when we go back after Thanksgiving.

Yeah, I assumed that too. Guess he started hitting it hard early.

I wonder where all these women work. Granted, there are only 5 of us if you count me, but I can't imagine there being "cattyness"

Never had that problem anywhere, really. Even when there were 200 of us cocktail girls at the casino.

Maybe I just don't pay enough attention to people. Very plausible.

Was supposed to be off all week, but I'm coming in today and Friday because I have a trip planned at the end of January.

Merry Christmas, OT!

Our younger staff had four hours of training this morning from 8 to noon. I taught the first two hours of it.

At noon we close up and have our annual office christmas party. They bring in food and a bartender. Will drink and eat and play that gift exchange game, and we knock off around 230 or 300. If you stay till the end of the party, you don't have to take personal time even if they let us go at 230 or 300. If you leave early or don't come in, you have to take personal time.

I'd hate this shite. Just do it before Christmas like normal people. Work gets enough of your time throughout the year. No reason to hold your employees hostage.

Yeah, no shite. If I'm trying to get home to family the last think I want to do is be fricking around at work.

That is really stupid.

At my job, everyone gets off at 11:30 on Fridays.. except one person from each department takes a turn staying until 4pm each Friday. (You get a half day another day that week)
So I work until 4pm on Friday once a month.

Our Christmas party was 2 Fridays ago, and I was actually really glad it was my turn to stay late. The party started @ 11:30 (when the whole office gets off work), so all of those people were here on their off time while I had to be here anyway. Got to kill a couple hours of time hanging out at the party.

Ended up getting margaritas delivered by my boss and leaving by 3pm, still getting paid the same, so I'd say me working late on Christmas party day was a good thing. They all acted like I had the shite end of the deal.
