I'm 26, great health. Haven't been to a doctor since high school so I have no clue how this works. I was told by my company that I haven't been using the "free annual checkup" that comes with my insurance and that it wouldn't hurt for me to take advantage of that. I only know of 3 types of offices- big hospitals, specialty doctors, and urgent care facilities. Where do I go for a basic annual checkup?

Anyone have recommendations for the Mandeville/Covington area?

Go to your insurance website. They should have a list of doctors in your area. Pick the closest one with an American name.

I google them until I find a very attractive female. Next, I check her Facebook and Instagram. If she is sufficiently slutty, I'll set up an appointment for a hernia check.

Family medicine doctor.

Pick a younger, cute one.

So should you pick a general practitioner, a family medicine doctor, or an internal medicine doctor?

There aren't really very many General Practitioners around anymore. GP = 1 year internship after medical school. They aren't to be confused with Family Practice, internists, or pediatricians, who each spend 3 years after medical school in residency. They all (can) practice primary care, but the latter 3 are all eligible for board certification from national groups. GP's don't have a boarding agency. And their post-grad training is much shorter.

So OP, go to your insurance's website or brochure and look for any Family Medicine (or Family Practice...same thing) or internal medicine outpatient clinics.

Yeah, I should have used the term internist. I'm old so I said GP.

I would find a young General Practitioner that's going to be around awhile.

If your looking for a Doctor.

I like my Doctor.He's 2 years older than me.I've been seeing him about 12 years.I'm 54.

I didn't start going to the Doctor til I was 38.

Everyone needs a Doctor.A lot of Specialists require Referrals from GP's.

Smallish, slight Asian female. You don't want a fat finger when prostate exam time rolls around.

I started going to an internal medicine doc (internist) for checkups a few years ago.

It helps to have that relationship so that if I get the flu or whatever, I can usually get an appointment to see him or his PA within hours, which beats the hell out of sitting and waiting at a walk-in quick clinic full of sickos. Bonus if his office is near your house.
