It is important to note that many people described as black then, were not what we would call black.
Having swarthy skin would classify you as black. That includes Arabs, Pacific Islanders, Native Americans, etc.
Very few Moors were black, for example. We only think otherwise because of Othello. Blackamoors were generally all Arabs and Berbers. The term "black" back then was generally a catch-all term meaning "darker than the average Euro".

There weren't many to survive to breed.
There were other times in (especially) Irish history where Spaniards ended up alive in Ireland.
There was a bit of interbreeding but it was a drop in the bucket to dilute the local DNA until after WWII there.
