ROFL... That's what I'm thinking...
I guess she didn't want it to look "too good"
ON ANOTHER NOTE: Is that a ballsack on top of the trophy??

The motivation for cheating supposedly was to qualify/improve her time for some NYC running club etc
Didn't sound like "winning" mattered but just making the right time

She does, but hers will have the 13.1 scratched out and replaced by 11.65

So how did she cheat?
Ride a bike somehow without being noticed? Cut the course and rested at the same time?

I used to race bikes for fun. But, I saw risks people would take just to be the first one back to their cars at afternoon training rides. Screw that. And, yes, tris are weird.

There is no doubt triathlon people are a different breed. They care more about equipment that can save you 2 watts, or their Garmin file than anyone else. Half the time, I hope they are wrong, because they can be real a-holes to people without any actual proof.
But sadly, they are right a lot of the time. It's like when the OT goes on a stolen car hunt in the BR area. It's amazing what people come up with.

There was something like a 1.5 mile out and back that she skipped

Maybe she has a long stride.
Help me understand how someone with a long stride runs a shorter distance than someone with a short stride.

I don't think he understands that it's a GPS watch, not one of those foot pods that counts steps.
Better argument is that she could have forgotten to start her watch until 2 miles in. I have no clue how people think they can cut minutes off their times without people seeing

one time in Cross Country, i had scouted the entire course, and they forgot to take down the markers for the women's race so the guys were only running a 2 mile course. i apparently was one of the only ones to figure this out so i sprinted like hell to finish top 10 which never happens. i was usually 4th or 5th on my team and finished outside of the top 50 or so most races.
didn't feel bad.

If monetary awards are not involved and the marathon is just purely for fun and competition, why would anyone waste time and money "investigating" a glorified track race?

To make it worse, she went out the afternoon after the marathon and biked the course with her GPS in an attempt to create a false record to prove she had run the entire course. She only admitted cheating after this internet investigator posted the pic of her running watch time from just after the race.

Is it possible the watch could have had a mishap or she forgot to activate it? Given the number of people, chip timers for the runners, and barricades, I would assume that it is pretty had to cheat on a marathon.

Running miles is a dumb sport anyway

she admitted to the cheating. so probably not.

I read cheating marathoner in the title and thought the thread was going to be about someone's wife getting gang banged. I have come to realize how cynical I've become.

She's a contributor to the Huffington Post. Why would anyone expect her to be honest?

Story I heard is that the time allowed her to be part of an elite running club or something like that. Not sure of the validity of it.
