Charleston a great place to visit, especially for someone from NOLa because they are so similar in time and history. Can't remember if it is Charekston or Savannah but one of them was spared the wrath of the civil war (and a big fack you to General Sherman) and retained all it's glory as a southern city.

Kiawah island is the place to go for a few nights. Not a party spot but beautiful and relaxing.

Yes! Isle of Palm is a great spot. 2 great bars, 3 great places to eat. Awesome beaches.
Check out Poes and Windjammer.

St Augustine is better in every way possible.
Well, they're not all that comparable IMO. I wouldn't say one is better, just different. Charleston is fairly sizeable city. St Augustine is more of a village. If you want to do "historical touristy things" you'll run out of those in about 1.5 days in St Augustine. If you want to bum around and have downtown historical stuff very close to the beach, then St Aug it is. But if it's less of a beach vacation, and more of a get out and do things vacation then Charleston wins hands down.

Yes. North Charleston has a unique running competition you can check out.
