Me and the wife (no pics) are tossing ideas around for a trip this summer and Charleston has come up. We are both in our early 30's.

I've heard a lot about how great the city is but what about as a vacation destination? Anyone have any suggestions on things to do, places to go, etc?

You might be peeling your nuts off your inner thighs all weekend long. It can get downright sauna swampy in Charleston in the summer.

In spring and fall, however, there's not a better weekend spot !

Amazing place. A must visit. Not in the summer.

Do you like history? Charleston is so rich in this aspect. Lots of museums and an all around cool place.

Savannah would be a great vacation as well. Very similar cities.

INDEED! I cannot wait to go back there, myself. Florida is Florida and it's the easiest place to travel and do the beach, but do yourself a favor.

We spent just a couple of days in Charleston and loved it - the city is very hospitable. We mainly just did Patriot's Point and Fort Sumter, but the architecture of the city is compelling, all the church steeples - if either of you enjoys history, photography, southern architecture or lazy summer afternoons in a nice place, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I'm sure the King of New Orleans can handle a little humidity, baw. Charleston is almost dry compared to the Big Sleazy in the summertime.

Beach at Sullivan's Island is good too - just a few minutes from downtown Charleston.

Charleston is really hot in the summer and really cold in the winter.

St Augustine is better in every way possible.

Magnolias Restaurant
is worth going to Charleston far.

BUTTERMILK FRIED CHICKEN BREAST
cracked pepper biscuit, mashed potatoes, collard greens, creamed corn, sausage-herb gravy.

If you generally don't care for this stuff, order it anyway.
I'd love to try their other dishes also.

Before you get in the plane, make goddam sure it's

NOT

that is the plane's terminal destination.

Divorces are understandable for less of a faux pas.

You'll get bored after a few days but Myrtle Beach isn't far to drive.

Nice city though

Eat at Husk
Eat at the Fat Hen
Eat at Magnolias Grill
Take a touristy carriage ride
Go see Sullivan Island and eat a low country boil
Go see the Angel Oak
Go see Kiawah Island. Stay a night or two there if you can.
Take the tour to Ft. Sumpter.
Go see The Citadel
Lots more to see and do in Charleston.

The Duck Club sammich at Tatooed Moose is worth the trip, but there is plenty to do in Charleston for a one off vacation or a lifelong relationship with the grand old city.
