Are their certain industries in which it seems like everyone who works in it, seems to think they know it all? Operators for example, a lot of operators seem to think they have it all figured out.

there was a point in history when it was fairly likely that a journalist did "know everything" about the subject they specialized themselves to cover.
now, not so much. so yeah, journalist

I find that there is an inverse correlation between the amount of knowledge a person has accrued and their level of certainty that they know everything. Guided by that, I would start looking at the bottom.

I am basing this on a few people, I know who are operators. I do know some who are not like this. If anything, it likely has to do with where they work.

Nurses
Nurses know more than doctors. Just ask them.

well, as an operator, I can guarantee, with 100% certainty, I don't know everything

One industry where everybody else knows more than the person in it is the culinary industry.
Constantly am told by people the best way to prepare food.
And every one of them has the "best" method for anything.

What does this even mean?
A surgeon is an operator.
A train engineer is an operator.
Hell, the guy driving the garbage truck is an operator.

Politicians
They know they don't know it all but what they believe is that they know what is best for you.
They are far more damaging than all other know it alls combined.

This 100%, people with almost zero real skills always think the boss man is a dumbass and they could run the company to be 10x more profitable after only being there 3 weeks. They always seem to later get fired for drug abuse or excessive dui's.
