General question.

Involved in a personal injury case (entire family injured). Staff attorney that was recommended by multiple people took our case on 9/26/16. Got a call today that case was transferred to partner/founder of firm. Have not had a chance to speak to new laywer only paralegal. In general what does this mean?

TIA

there's a lot of legal jargon here but basically it means that the case was transferred to a partner at the firm.

1. Partner sees an opportunity to make beaucoup $$$.

or

2. Staff attorney got tired of the firm and left.

just a guess, but you were referred to an underling and the firm thinks the case can bring you (and them) serious $$$.

I'd say it's probably a good thing. If you have a personal attachment to the lawyer you were referred to, perhaps you can ask that he still work the case as a second.

Sorry your family was hurt.

It means they think they are gonna make a lot of money off of you.

Does Spencer Callahan still have that sweet mustache?

That means that your case is worth good money or the partner wouldn't be wasting his time with it. Congrats playa

Staff attorney is sister of partner and has been at firm for 20 years. If it means anything Partner's resume is much more impressive than staff attorney. Also staff attorney came highly recommended by multiple people.

Low level attorney does all the ground work. It gets transferred to Partner to run up legal billing (more $/hour) and percentage of settlement that firm keeps.

This is what ive seen. Hope its not the same in your case.

That fricking sucks. The pain goes away, but the mental and physical scars last a long time. I hope you get some justice.
