Cruise ships almost never use tugs. 10000 hp thrusters on the bow and stern for lateral force. Stronger and much quicker to respond than tugs. They probably let the current or wind or both get ahead of them and the ship got out of shape.A tug could have helped but would still throw some wash under the ship from the other side. If the ship got too far out of shape tugs would have not mattered unless they needed all the force of the tugs and the thrusters from the very beginning before they got in that predicament. Tugs can cost $10k for 15 minutes and they don't want them marking up their white paint either.

I like the way the idiot making the video thought the captain was some kind of hero. Called him Sully.
