Can you still take off a cable providers disrupter

Just got into a new house, and Cox won't be coming for a few days.
Can you still just go into the box and pull the disrupter to get service? Have they found a new way to block access? I'd throw it back in before they show up.

If you know what you are doing, sure. I have heard that Cox will be going all digital this year also. This means you will have to have a box. So for the people getting free cable from just hooking up the coaxial cable, will be without after the switch.

wait in order to get tv you will have to have a box? i have cox cable and in 2 room we have a box but just go straight to the coaxial in the other 2 rooms. we wont be able to do this?

They will either force you to let them run lines to those rooms or will have a wireless type of system.

Correct. You will need to have a box for the other rooms. Now, this is what I have been told by a few people.
