So for someone my age to be physically fit enough to be a cop, all I have to do is run 1.5 miles in under 14 minutes, do 22 push-ups and 33 sit-ups? It's a wonder crime still exists.

No that's the basic to get into the academy. The actual training is no picnic. I have a buddy in it that was advising me o the whole deal. He said the training camp was awful. It's basically military boot camp. You will wake up at 5am and run 5 miles marching in a company grouping etc. There is a lot worse physical training but that admissions test is just the basic. He advised me to be in the best shape of my life going in and it would be easier.

I considered it before getting offered a better opportunity in another field. Being a state trooper is a lot different than a local city cop.

Did you take LEAPS or LSP ?

It's LSP. LEAPS is a different test. If you have a brain and a college degree the test is easy as hell.

You're confusing people in the thread...This is a local cop test, not the State Police test

If you took the test on page 1 of this thread, hoping to be LSP, you may be waiting a while

Ok that makes a lot more sense. My faith in the BRPD is restored to its original state, which to be fair was not high to begin with.

Don't kid yourself...the tests are very similar. There are some different sections that LSP includes that locals don't I think.

I already was offered to progress into the academy but i declined it for a better job offer.

I agree, the basics are the same, but the people I took the LSP with vs the people at LEAPS testing, were two different worlds

We all did...

If you weren't in the LSP system for at least three years waiting, you were never going to get a shot

Oh i definitely agree with you. Most of the guys i took the LSP test with looked military and current cop. Probably 75% of the class was physically fit. There were a good 25% that were laboring with the test as well as I know would never pass the physical test.

From what I hear they haven't had a lot of people passing the physical assessment so far to fill the class for October.

I actually just applied within the first of the year, took the test in like June, took the physical, and was headed to the last parts but got a better job offer. It had nothing to do with my app sitting there or not sitting there for 3 years.

I also know a few high ups

Cops are dumb and you are smart.
Most people work in a place that is predictable and well cushioned from violence. Imagine if you had a job that is violent and dynamic and your primary goal is to go home without being shot while protecting the public.

Even if it's only the entrance exam to get yourself considered and screened for training, it still should not be this easy. Depressing.
