Seems like a question better suited for AI than all of us low intelligence folk.

Probably

Most phDs are the dumbest people in the room anyways so there isn’t much of a difference

Idk, but phd dissertations usually require a lot of research and “original “ thought. If a person could input data, especially statistics, AI can probably help quite a bit

Sure, if you are not particular about it being correct or not.

Sure, but that would be a HUGE mistake. When you defend you will not know document better than the faculty. You only learn your dissertation to that detail by writing it yourself.

Go ahead and try it and let us know how it turns out.

After all, there’s zero way to check if AI wrote the document. No websites exist for that sort of thing. None.

Introduction
Review of Literature
Methods
Results
Conclusion
Appendix

Writing a dissertation is not that hard, just start writing with that basic format and play fill in the blank for draft 1. Then by draft 4 or 5, start working on flow. Its an exercise in persistence, not inspiration.

This kind of thing really irks me.

An AI paper writer is a soulless, heartless, mindless thing. Anything it produces will only have superficial value, and will lack coherence and substance, as well as being riddled with inconsistencies and errors. Sure, it will be long and arduous, like a leftist meme, but ultimately of much less worth than the genuine article.

Like an OweO post.

If you must cheat, consider using a flesh and blood paper writer for the task. Support humans, not robots.

You don't need AI for that...

Abstract.
Introduction.
Review of Literature.
Methods.
Results.
Discussion.

A full dissertation? No. Could it help you write a literature review? Yes.

Current language models like ChatGPT can't create figures but could write the annotation. You would spend more time telling it what to write in that case.

Also, ChatGPT can give you example code needed to run statistical software, but you would need some sort of third party plugin to have it run through and analyze your data.

I’m talking about for the subject matter. I have an idea that I’ve already done research on and I’m having writers block on how to get it started and how I want to piece it all together

Try and start? Have you been admitted or not?

Also, depending on what the subject material is, there really is no point to starting now. The depth of reading you need isn't going to be reproducible from these AI language bots, from what I've seen.
