California is the most backwards state in the entire country.

texas is the easily one of the best states in the country. if texas seceded, it would be a million times more successful. california is a shithole. beautiful geography but everything else sucks.

Damn shame how Jindal was a complete pussy in fighting for that here in Louisiana. Ran away from it the first sign of trouble. Needed too much political capital.

California is a great state if you're wealthy. I've talked to many ex Californians who now reside in Washington and Oregon and have terrible things to day about the cost of living and tax burden for the average person.

I have family in Northern California and they love it. They're also pretty middle class, the only times there's a problem money wise are places like LA, San Diego, San Fransisco, and Silicon Valley

I imagine you could have a decent middle class life in (real, not San Francisco or Napa) Northern Cal or the Central Valley and be fine. the population centers where most of the population lives however is terrible.

People move to California b/c it is the Promised Land of Eternal Youth & Sunshine, and will pay any price to live that dream

California was once a place where Americans wanted to move their families because of plentiful jobs, great climate, affordable housing, brand new schools, and huge investment in infrastructure. It was a message repeated in movies and TV shows. That is no longer true.

Colorado is the best state in the US with New Hampshire being a close second.

According to the OP's metrics Beijing, Karachi, and Mumbai are far better than any US city.

Having visited all 3 of these shitholes I can report this is not the case.

50's - 70's California was considered utopia. Since then, it's become an elitist playground surrounded by pockets of crime ridden crapholes.

This actually happened in California.

Must've been amazing to live there under his leadership.

People I know who lived in SoCal during that period consistently talk about how great it was. Not a single one of them lives there now.

I live in the Bay Area. It's a mixed bag. Some things make it the greatest place in the country and some things make it the worst.

Why bring up only INCOME tax. Texas has high property taxes to make up for the low income tax. Total state taxed is what counts.
