I can understand that. Not having family close can be a huge drag. We have to juggle sitters every weekend. And you're never quite sure how safe your kids are.

On the flip side, you're going to be making that Silicon Valley VC/PE cash. Hire 2 live-ins and let Nana fly in every other weekend.

Did the article provide the data for the top job creating states by percentage? They admit their numbers are a result of using the two largest states.

Both are nice, but the have an advantage with their size.

Its definitely something we consider when the kids are older. With a CPA/Internal Audit background, it is the perfect market for me. Startups move so fast that they are desperate with people to come in and get their internal controls in line. And with the nurses union, it is a great place for my wife as well. We went to visit and scope it out this July. Absolutely beautiful city

Exactly. Also, the relationships you form with guys in your 20s-30s will be key when you're doing $500MM deals in your 40s-50s.

I will say Texas is a great state and I wish Lousiana could mimic it. Great schools, affordable nice housing, great job opportunities, etc etc
no doubt. I moved out to Texas(DFW area) last October.

I'm from LA, that'll always be home. But for raising kids/career opportunities blah blah blah, I mean it's not even a comparison obviously.

It depends. I am a CPA with multiple years experience in Internal Audit. I was offered a position with Uber in San Fran making 150k a year. My wife is a nurse, and CA has a nurses union, so her yearly pay there would be between 80-100k
Serious question, you guys making $250k in San Fran, would that really be THAT much of a step up compared to whatever you make in River Ridge(assuming that's where you live as that's what it says under your screen name lol)

I'm guessing the cost of living difference is absurd between the 2.

It would be a very slight step up. But the poster I replied to said is it possible to live upper middle class there.

That's about what I figured.

Just guessing here, but I'd assume the access to further career growth would be more important than the slight step up in salary based on location.

Correct. There are CFOs over there at 30 years old making 7 figures.......

The startup culture is crazy
