Don't text and drive, even at 1 mile per hour.

Well mine is the uconnect system and it's had a bad track record on this trip. Guiding us on routes that actually were slower than the usual way. It's funky at times. That's why I didn't trust it 100%

I use google maps GPS on my phone, and the one time i followed it's detour i lost 2 hours on my trip. But the every time i've ignored it I got stuck in traffic. Hope you get out of there without burning!

Out of there, taking a long detour now...sucks. It is crazy how much smoke is in the sky from the fire.

That is the opposite of how boats work.

Based on what's happening now, how can you be sure they were slower routes?

Waze is the only way to go.

If you think the route they give you is funky, you click "more routes" and it will list each alternative route WITH the exact time it will take you based on traffic and whatnot.

Mine took me a weird way the other day too, but when I looked at alternative routes to make sure, my normal one was an hour longer due to a wreck.

Drones forced the landing of planes deployed to fight the so-called North Fire that burned cars and homes along the 15 Freeway Friday, delaying response to the frightening blaze, officials said.

All air units not only pulled back from the fire because of the drones, but all five were forced to touch back down at the airport in San Bernardino after jettisoning their loads, John Miller of the U.S. Forest Service said.

As long as you have good cell service where you are driving at. Much of the roads we were on we didn't always have cell service consistently. Even when we were stuck on that freeway with that fire for hours our cell signals were very spotty. And the gps in my jeep gave me the funky route long before that fire ever started. Gave it to me at 7 am that morning. It's a funky built in system....same one that really wanted us to drive right through Los Angeles at morning rush hour traffic when we were driving to our destination from AZ last week

Even with the fire and that freeway completely blocked the jeep at that point kept trying to direct us back on that same freeway.
