Do you know what Brighton is?

Very familiar. Been to many of their stores and have received numerous pieces of Brighton jewelry as gifts from my mother-in-law. Like I said...the jewelry is really cute and good quality.

The purses are pricey and while they may be of good quality...many of them overbedazzled and just look more like something a 64 year old Sunday school teacher would want.

I'd much rather a Gucci over a LV. However, I dont desire to spend a ton of money on a purse. I think it's silly and stupid.

Kate Spade is classic and similar in price range, but much nicer than Coach. I'm not a bag person but I get maybe 1-2/year and they're classic and very durable.

Saw someone else mention Tumi. I can vouch for these bags. My company gifted me with Tumi luggage and work bags.. They're really nice and extremely high quality.

Dooney and Bourke- more classic, everyday

Kate Spade- trendier, for going out

This,
it's also better to let her pick one out herself..nothing worse than buying a $300.00 purse online and finding out its fake when she opens it Christmas morning

Then you give her two gifts....the purse AND the gift of shopping!

What's better than going shopping for a $300 purse? Shopping for a $300 purse that you aren't paying for!

They're all cheap. Women buy the name brand to impress other women. There's nothing special about any "Designer" product except the brand.

Glad I'm not the only one!

Like I said...love their jewelry though. My sister in law and mother in law always buy me gifts from there and I've always loved anything they got me(but I LOVE silver).

Can a woman here please explain to me why spending so much damned money on a fricking purse is necessary?

When I go to Kohl's or JC Penney I know I see purses for like $30-$50... what do these $500 purses have that the $30 purses don't? If I were to buy a $300 purse as opposed to the $30 purse the $300 better be able to wash my car and do the dishes.

Nah, men are getting to require "luxury" pickup trucks for gods sake. At least the womens luxury item is 60k less expensive.

Do you wear expensive sunglasses?

Buy more expensive clothes when a $20 brand is available?

Buy more expensive shoes when you could just get a pair from Payless?

Alright then

Also...most women that have expensive purses...also own cheaper purses as well. Most women like to have different purses to match what they are wearing and the occasion. Sometimes a cute $20 Target purse will work and sometimes you want to instead use your nicer purse. Women just like variety.

I get it but its a bag with zippers and pockets.

I understand paying more for quality.... but, at the same time, is the leap in quality from a $30 purse to a $300 purse that big of a jump? It's one thing to pay $100 for a pair of shoes as opposed to a $25 pair of shoes, or a $50 dress shirt as opposed to a $15 dress shirt. But those increases in price are not as drastic. I would never buy a $300 anything when it comes to clothes or shoes.

You are not getting real leather and quality stitching in a $30 purse.

Versus real leather in a $300 purse that, if you properly care for it, will last you several years.

Yeah that isn't how most women look at it.

It's an extension of themselves. A way to have function yet display their personality. A way to complete an outfit.

And the best part....it always fits you. You never have to diet to be able to wear it again if you gain 5-10 lbs.

Well, this isn't quite the same. Some people are value shoppers and will pay more for a better value. Designer goods value is in the label, which is different than buying high quality at a reasonable price.

I buy $150 sunglasses on sale for $60 bucks. The name isn't important, but the lenses and quality constriction for what they're used for make them a great value.

However, men these days aren't that much different than women. I see more and more men succumbing to fads these days.

Designer products generally fall under the Cadillac Principle where the more expensive an item is, the more value it has to the buyer.

Lots of status bags not considered here:
Celine
Yves St Laurent
Prada
Chloe
All big money but a nice change from Louis' and more pedestrian brands. Spend too much time shopping for this crap
