Paging Napoleon...
One of my bigger 'don't make em like they used to' complaints is microwaves. I know they have gotten cheaper on the price tag, but damn most seem to be shite now.
What are the best made over the range microwaves on the market? I thought I read that all are made by the same company for most of the overseas brands (LG, Samsung, etc). Any good ones out there?

There isn't much to a microwave. A magnetron plus a few other cheap electronics.
The above the range ones get expensive due to the added fans for exhaust.
I'd just get one that suits your kitchen and go with it.

The door lock mechanism wore out on ours after about 3 years. Switched to a magic chef or something like that.

Panasonic or Viking convection microwaves are the way to go.

I bought this one a month or so ago at Sam's...

I don't use it a ton. But it's quiet and had worked great everyone I've used it.

witchcraft built in that knows how long to reheat things. You just press reheat and it does the rest. Same thing for popcorn. No complaints whatsoever.
the Panasonic Inverter has all that too.
I stop the popcorn with about 9 seconds to go. its set at 3.5 for popcorn and its a few seconds too long. popcorn is figured out for 1100 watts and the Panasonic inverter is 1200 watts.
Panasonic reheat feature is optionally complicated. I keep it simple.
