Browns Dairy FTW

Brown's is good and so is the store brand Shur-Fine that they sell at the independent grocers. I try to buy local whenever I can but I'm done with Kleinpeter. BTW, contrary to what company officials are saying, this problem has been ongoing for years, not months.

Brown's gave my toddler the shits when he was a good bit younger, so we've avoided it since then.

Is 80% of Kleinpeter's milk really trucked-in from Wisconsin?

Glad to see this. When the issue first came up a few months back WAFB didn't an "investigative" story on the complaints. All that consisted of was interviewing the head guy from Kleinpeter who basically just called everyone idiots and said it was because the fridges weren't set to right temperature. He even blamed the weather warming up as part of the problem

Business owners' first response is always to blame their own idiot customers. It costs nothing and usually works.

That's hilarious. As if everyone would just simultaneously start setting their fridges to higher temperatures. What a dickbag.

This has been discussed for months, and it's been a problem for months...maybe even a year. Kleinpeter did zero to address it, they shrugged off criticism, ignored questions, and insulted customers who complained. If you've got complaints rolling in non-stop then something is obviously wrong, now all of sudden they are getting off of their asses? I'm guessing quarterly sales reports didn't meet their mark, so now all of sudden it's a problem. I wish people would stop buying their shite completely.

Yup. It's something like that. They belong to a Co op. Used to be in state all lousiana. They switched to an out of state one. They don't advertise it but they don't deny it.
Call em up and ask em.

Not sure where the figures are coming from. Kleinpeter is close to double the store brands at most places.

I like to support the local guy but not that much.

Two months ago? This is about an actual article written TODAY on the issue.

They even address that the issue has been ongoing
quote:

The problems have been mounting for months, and now the company is aggressively—and belatedly—trying to address them.

Solid contribution though

I grew up on Kleinpeter. Lived down the road. It was delivered to our door twice a week. I liked the idea of supporting a local company so continued the tradition. We've had 3 gallons go bad on us (2 of which were the moment brought home), so we quit buying it for awhile. The 2nd one that was bad from store was only a couple days ago. Nasty as hell. I don't want to hear shite about fridge temps. Milk would sit at our back door for hours when I was kid and it never went bad. Moving on. Kleinpeter earned their last dollar from us.

Thanks for the link - will check out their cow juice.

Related, what became of Smith Creamery? I know they had a fire/explosion at their dairy and Kleinpeter's was helping distribute their products. Now, I rarely see their products for sale.

I think it's funny some people have said company rep has shown up at their door with milk and ice cream after complaining on FB
They have done this for me twice over ten years. Each time, the convenience store didn't have their refrigerators cold enough, and when I went back, I noticed they were at 38°F.

I go through a gallon a week by myself, and oddly enough, I've never had one that tasted bad. I absolutely love milk and have always been able to tell the difference between brands. Their vitamin D is just the best out there. Since I haven't had any problems in New Orleans, I will stick with them

Now that I think about it, a bunch of people I know in New Orleans drink Kleinpeter, and I haven't heard anything bad about shelf life. Maybe it is BR specific?
