Business Report article on quality problems with Kleinpeter products

"The problems have been mounting for months, and now the company is aggressively—and belatedly—trying to address them. In recent weeks Kleinpeter has hired consultants, contracted with an LSU dairy scientist, fired several employees, replaced older equipment and called in top management to work round-the-clock to determine why milk is spoiling before it should and, also, why some batches have what customers report as a peculiar, chemical taste. Yeah, I got a jug of Kleinpeter last week that was tasting a little odd this weekend. It hadn't hit the sell by date, so I didn't worry about getting sick, but I didn't like the taste. I didn't think much of it until I saw that in the Business Report this morning.

We stopped buying their whole milk because it soured quickly.

Had a bit of their skim milk yesterday morning from the work cafe. Expiration date said May 24, but it was sour as all hell.

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed. I drank one a while back that tasted like someone had sweat into it.

Yeah, switched a while back. I buy it from some dairy farmers in Slaughter.
But here's what a lot of you probably don't know. Klienpeter still distributes all of the brands around here. So technically it all goes through Kleinpeter's facility anyway.

"So beloved is the Kleinpeter brand, customers are willing to pay a 25% premium, on average, for Kleinpeter products—which they genuinely believe taste better."
Yep, I used to be in this group. I didn't mind paying much higher for a better product. I've been buying Brown's for several months now.

Me too. I assumed it was the market being sloppy with the milk.

I've gotten some bad milk/egg nog in the past few months.
Definitely not going back now that they have basically done nothing to correct these problems for months.

Haven't drank Kleinpeter in a good 6 months. I'm not wasting my money or time dealing with them anymore.

The Kleinpeters sound very entitled. Not a good quality.

They claim not to use hormones in their milk. That's the main reason many buy it I think. I don't give a shite and I'll drink Brown's since the pledge not to, but most likely do.

I think it's funny some people have said company rep has shown up at their door with milk and ice cream after complaining on FB.
Great, giving us more spoiled milk this time delivered.
But seriously, what's the name of that company that used to deliver milk and crap around South LA. I can't remember their name. I wonder if the still do business around here. We always thought rich people got that growing up.

Especially the way they make their customers think they're drinking fresh local milk when 80% of it is trucked in from Wisconsin...

Family member got sick from egg nog and we went back to the store to let them know it was spoiled. The people at the store said that several people had come back saying the same thing and took our name.
A few days later Kleinpeter rep shows up with milk and ice cream and asks to check the fridge temp. We say that we bought it from the store and came straight home and opened it...he kept insisting he needed to check the fridge temperature (even though several other people returned egg nog to the store). We said it wasn't necessary then the rep asks to bring the milk in and place it in the fridge.
Told him it wasn't necessary but was very awkward.. only thing I can think is they wanted to check the fridge temp to save their arse in the event of a lawsuit...if it isn't the perfect temp they aren't liable. Very odd exchange.

There was a thread here several weeks ago about the problem and Kleinpeter was roundly slammed for it. It wouldn't surprise me if that thread caught somebody's eye and resulted in the Business Report article.
